The Bottom of the Grand Canyon

On the final day of vacation, I took an all-day bus/jeep tour to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. This relatively new tour takes you from Williams to the Grand Canyon Caverns, one of the only dry caverns in the world.

On the way to the caverns, we passed through the route 66 town of Seligman, AZ which was the true inspiration for the Disney movie "Cars." The town is filled with old cars that have eyes on the windshields, like the cartoon characters.

After the caverns, we then took an open air jeep (similar to the pink jeep tour) and drove down a dirt road that descended to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. While on the road, we fed wild burrows (donkeys) and inhaled a lot of dirt. LOL!

Once at the bottom, we ate lunch right next to the Colorado River. After lunch we dipped our feet into the chilly 48 degree water to cool off from the 112 degree heat.

It was a great end to an amazing vacation!
